사도행전 2장 42절은 "
그들이 사도의 가르침을 받아 서로 교제하고 떡을 떼며 오로지 기도하기를 힘쓰니라"고 기록하고 있습니다. 교회는 이와 같이 신자들이 함께 모여 서로를 격려하고, 하나님의 말씀을 배우며, 기도로 하나님과의 관계를 강화하는 장소입니다.
The early church was a faith community centered around Jesus Christ. They gathered together for worship, shared the Word, and served one another. Acts 2:42(NIV) states, "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." The church is a place where believers gather to encourage each other, learn God's Word, and strengthen their relationship with God through prayer.
2. 하나님의 가족 (The Family of God)
교회는 하나님의 가족으로 비유될 수 있습니다.
에베소서 2장 19절에서 바울은 "
그러므로 이제부터 너희는 외인도 아니요 나그네도 아니요 오직 성도들과 동일한 시민이요 하나님의 권속이라"고 말합니다. 이 말씀은 모든 신자가 하나님의 가족으로서 서로 연결되어 있음을 나타냅니다. 교회는 이러한 영적 가족의 연합을 상징하며, 신자들이 서로 사랑하고 지지하는 공간입니다.
The church can be likened to the family of God. In Ephesians 2:19(NIV), Paul says, "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household," This indicates that all believers are connected as members of God's family. The church symbolizes this spiritual family union, where believers love and support each other.
3. 선교와 사명 (Mission and Commission)
교회는 세상 속에서 하나님의 복음을 전하는 사명을 가지고 있습니다.
마태복음 28장 19-20절에서 예수님은 "
그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 베풀고 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 "고 명령하셨습니다. 바울도 그의 서신에서 교회의 사명을 강조하며, 복음을 전하고 제자를 삼는 것이 교회의 중요한 역할임을 강조합니다.
The church has a mission to proclaim God's gospel to the world. In Matthew 28:19-20(NIV), Jesus commands, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Paul also emphasizes the church's mission in his letters, highlighting that spreading the gospel and making disciples is a crucial role of the church.
4. 서로 섬김 (Serving One Another)
교회는 예수님이 보여주신 섬김의 본을 따르는 곳입니다. 예수님께서 제자들의 발을 씻기신 것처럼, 교회는 서로 섬기고 봉사하는 공동체입니다.
갈라디아서 5장 13절에서 바울은 "
형제들아 너희가 자유를 위하여 부르심을 입었으나 그러나 그 자유로 육체의 기회를 삼지 말고 오직 사랑으로 서로 종 노릇 하라"고 권면합니다. 이처럼 교회는 사랑으로 서로를 섬기고 도우며, 그리스도의 사랑을 실천하는 곳입니다.
The church follows the example of service shown by Jesus. Just as Jesus washed the disciples' feet, the church is a community that serves and helps one another. In Galatians 5:13(NIV), Paul urges, "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." The church is a place where believers serve each other with love, practicing Christ's love.
5. 영적 성장과 훈련 (Spiritual Growth and Training)
교회는 신자들이 영적으로 성장하고 훈련받는 곳입니다.
에베소서 4장 12-13절은 "
이는 성도를 온전하게 하여 봉사의 일을 하게 하며 그리스도의 몸을 세우려 하심이라"라고 기록되어 있습니다. 교회는 성도들이 하나님의 말씀을 배우고, 기도를 통해 하나님과 교제하며, 각자의 은사를 발견하고 활용할 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 합니다.
The church is a place where believers grow spiritually and receive training. Ephesians 4:12-13(NIV) states, "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." The church helps believers learn God's Word, commune with God through prayer, and discover and use their spiritual gifts.
